Real Life Weddings at The Manor House

Adam and I met through work in 2013. He proposed in Cornwall between lockdowns in 2020 at a beautifully remote spot within St Nectan’s Glen. We had visited the Manor House the year before, for my birthday and Adam had suggested picking up a brochure for weddings but I had told him that he had missed the important step of proposing! 

It’s very hard to pick what we loved most about the Manor House, the hotel and the scenery are stunning and you immediately feel at home as you drive through the gates. The welcoming, attentive and hard working staff are a real asset to the hotel and all of our guests mentioned how fantastic they all were. 

We were very fortunate to have Kirsten Butler (The Wedding Helper) who styled our wedding. We asked for a hint of festivity whilst complimenting our shades of green colour scheme which was achieved perfectly on the day. We hired the fairy light canopy and fairy light backdrop from Cahoots events and this created a really festive feel to the Dunstanville suite in addition to the lovely Christmas tree that the Manor House already had up! 

My dress was by Tal Kedem an Israeli based designer which isn’t usually stocked in the gorgeous Lace & Grace Bridal boutique in Keynsham. It just so happened that the week I had an appointment, Tal Kedem was doing a trunk show and they were the only store in the UK to exclusively host this particular collection. It felt like it was meant to be! I loved all of the embellishments on the bodice and the pearls amongst the tulle of the skirt. 

Looking around and seeing everyone laughing and smiling, the dancing, the smooth running of the day thanks to the Manor House team, the perfect setting and the most perfect December weather. 

We surprised our guests with a live event artist who painted our immediate family throughout the day. My grandmother was unfortunately in hospital and unable to make our special day, so Lucy the artist painted her from a photograph and even put her in the outfit she had planned for our wedding. It was such a special touch and the painting was a real talking point of the wedding. 

Work together to create your perfect day and never let all of the work fall on one person. Communicate with your suppliers and make use of their experience and knowledge.
