Real life wedding at South Lodge
How did you both meet and how did the proposal occur?
At work when we both used to work for Chubb Electronic Security. Andy pursued me until he got a date with me and proposed two months after we got together at a Chubb Christmas party in Poole, Dorset back in December 2006. Andy then whisked me away to Cuba a couple of weeks’ later to celebrate our engagement!
Did you have a theme or a particular style for your day?
The theme was dusky pink/champagne colour with a nod to Marvel (table names). After the cake cutting, the wedding transformed from a classic westernised wedding to an Indian wedding with a surprise!
It came to life with the help of our lovely Event Coordinator, Beky Peake and the entire team at South Lodge who were brilliant on the day, special shout out to Liz who was amazing with our dog Archie! All the catering staff at South Lodge were fantastic.
Tell us all about THE dress…..
Ah yes, THE dress was a Suzanne Neville Azalea dress from the 2020 collection... first dress I saw in Mathilda Rose Bridal Boutique in Lindfield, and I instantly fell in love with this Suzanne Neville dress. I did not know it was a Suzanne Neville one at the time, but I saw it and I instantly LOVED it! To be fair, I was encouraged me to try other dresses (which I did) but I kept going back to the Azalea gown... and as our lovely daughter said, ‘it is sooooo you Mummy!’
What do you remember most about the day itself?
For me it was the vows, what I had been gearing up to do for such a LONG time, however, the getting ready part in the morning was super fun, the food was truly exquisite, and the speeches were brilliant. Andy’s speech even brought tears to my eyes! After our thrilling first dance, you couldn’t get me off the dancefloor even if you tried!
Having private time on our own with Danni and Mark for pictures was a very special moment.
Were there any special moments or surprises?
Having our beautiful 14-year-old daughter Amelia as bridesmaid and our handsome 12-year-old son Harry made our day incredibly special for the both of us; watching the two of them walking down the aisle with our gorgeous Cavapoochoon Archie was so special!
Also, having the renowned Johnny Kalsi playing at our wedding made it even more special, we were extremely fortunate to have him play on our big day!
What tips or advice would you give to future couples?
You should build your guest list. Write down all the names of people you’d like to attend — even if they live across the world or your partner has never met them.
1.Track your guest names on a spreadsheet
2. Create two categories (A and B) for your guest list. A is for the names of family and friends who you absolutely want at your wedding. B is for the extended family, friends, and work colleagues you’d like to share your evening reception with.
Also, decide on your wedding’s theme, decor, and details.
