Real life wedding at South Lodge
Did you have a theme or a particular style for your day?
Not really, we wanted it to be fairly simple and delicate and nothing too over the top so went for some fairly neutral colours in white and pink (to match the bridesmaids dresses). Ultimately we just wanted a big party with our friends and loved ones.
Tell us all about THE dress…..
It was the second shop I went to... Isabella Grace in Tunbridge Wells. It was a recommendation from my sister-in-law as that’s where she got her dress too. As soon as I walked in I just knew I would be saying yes to the dress that day. The shop was absolutely stunning. All white, so clean, smelt lovely. They even make you take your shoes off when you arrive. You are assigned a lovely consultant and you go into your own private room which again was just all beautiful and white with lovely mirrors. Luckily I was allowed to bring 2 guests so I bought my mum and sister with me. I tried on about 9-10 dress’s and whittled it down to 2. As soon as I tried them both on again, I just knew that that was my dress. I tried it on with a veil and immediately we all started crying! I tried on many different style’s of dress’s as I was open to what I wanted but my dress was a fitted crepe dress with small straps and lots of delicate beading.
What do you remember most about the day itself?
We must admit, it was a bit of a blur! When we were walking in to the beautiful grounds whilst the confetti was being thrown, in the sun with a glass of bubbly in hand! It was a really lovely moment. The food! It was amazing, needed and everyone that we have spoken with after was raving about it. The speeches and first dance, followed by partying late into the night! One thing to say was Toastmaster Dan was brilliant also, he was very memorable throughout the day and really made it for us.
Were there any special moments or surprises?
Everything was so exciting and planning all the individual parts of the day, the flowers, the seating plan, the make up trial etc… seeing it all come together on the big day was just such a relief and so overwhelming when it all came together perfectly. Having all our family and friends together, in one place, on one day was the best part for us.
What tips or advice would you give to future couple?
Request toastmaster Dan for the wedding! Apologies to any of the other toastmaster you have but he was honestly just exceptional. Take your time and take a step back from time to time. Wedding planning is a very stressful process but just remember that it will be all worth it in the end.
Go to the wedding fairs that South Lodge offer. It gives you a really good indication on what your day could look like and we were lucky enough to choose a few from our visit to one of these which worked out perfectly.
