Real Life Weddings at Fanhams Hall

How did you both meet and how did the proposal occur?

In September 2019 in Paris, Chris took me on a dinner evening river cruise and proposed with the Eiffel Tower sparkling in the background the day before my 29th Birthday, and after 13.5 years together!!

What did you love most about Fanhams Hall?

The beautiful grounds and the traditional side of the venue, the Long Gallery is particularly stunning. We also loved that it is a venue where your guests can stay and enjoy breakfast together the next day.

The staff are absolutely fantastic and made the planning of our day so much easier, big thank you to Lauren for putting up with all our questions!

Did you have a theme or particular style for your day?

We went for neutral and gold tones and a blush pink as the main pop of colour, which complimented the grooms and groomsmen navy suits very well. It was very subtle and looked very beautiful and elegant on the day!

Tell us all about the dress...

I went for a simple and plain dress with only a little detail on the back, which was a scoop backless design with buttons down the back. I went for a dress I knew I would be comfortable in and that wasn’t far from what I would wear at a special event, I dressed it up with my veil and jewellery to feel more special.

What do you remember most about the day itself?

The ceremony was our favourite part, the long gallery is such a beautiful room to get married in and we could not have been happier.

The day went so smoothly from the ceremony to the party and we had so much fun, our guests thoroughly enjoyed it and this was so visible to us on the day. There were so many compliments on the venue itself!

The food and drink was perfect (everything we could have hoped for) and the transitions from each part throughout the day was so smooth, thanks to our function manager Rachel.

We had a sax player in the evening and this topped our day off for us, we all loved it!

Were there any special moments or surprises?

Chris and I took a lot of time in the planning to personalise every aspect we could, from the favours, to children’s activity place mats, golden wooden place names, and personalised m&ms for the sweet cart! The stress of this was so worthwhile when we saw it all come together! We had a lovely personalised balloon free standing sign that my talented Bridesmaid made us as a surprise from her Balloon Parlour business.

Our most special moment on the day was once we were pronounced husband and wife, the cheer from the room was so loud and we will remember that moment forever!

We also surprised our guests by playing part of the song “Finally” when we were announced into the wedding breakfast room by our Master of Ceremonies! We have been together for 15 years so it was our way to laugh off how long it took us to get married, we all had a dance to it before we sat down for speeches and dinner and our guests found it hilarious!

What tips or advice would you give to future couples?

All the little details that you may stress and fuss about in the lead up to the day are all worth it in the end! We loved how every small detail we thought of came to life on the day and our guests were so complimentary. Read lots of wedding checklists to ensure you haven’t missed anything major, but you will always feel you should of thought of something after the event!

Advice for on the day, as you go round and greet guests, get them to take a selfie or a photo with you so they don’t regret not getting a photo with you on the day!
