Real Life Weddings at Fanhams Hall
How did you both meet and how did the proposal occur?
We met 5 years to the day on our wedding day, 12th August 2018 on Tinder!
Nick proposed to Jess on 29th May 2021, in the kitchen of our home. This was a particularly special day as it was the anniversary of Jess’ Mum’s death. Nick said he “wanted to change a bad day into a happier one”. Very low key, just the two of us.
What did you love most about Fanhams Hall?
When we first came to Fanhams Hall we fell in love with the Great Hall immediately. As soon as we walked in, we knew it was where we wanted to get married. When we got back to the car, we just looked at each other and nodded!
As History lovers, we absolutely loved the style, the dark beams. It is incredible how the original features have been kept so beautifully. We were also completely blown away with the gardens and grounds which we were able to use for our photos too.
We immediately felt at ease with all of the staff at Fanhams Hall and knew our special day was in great hands. They are so dedicated to making your day perfect.
We loved how easy it was to personalise our day!
Did you have a theme or particular style for your day?
We didn’t particularly have a theme as we just loved the natural beauty of the venue. For us, the priority was a day filled with fun, happiness and laughter. Everyone at Fanhams Hall made this possible from the day we first went!
It was really important to us that the day was ‘together’ and everyone could spend it together, relaxed. Fanhams is the perfect venue for this.
Tell us all about the dress...
My dress was from Pure Couture in Beaconsfield. I tried on a few, with my bridesmaids help, that I liked but didn’t love. The dress I tried on before THE dress was nice, with aspects of my dress but missing a few details. One of my bridesmaids picked a dress out and said what about this? I knew before I tried it on, it was the one! As soon as I tried it on, me and the bridesmaids were in tears! An off the shoulder, fitted top with loads of beautiful detail. A huge skirt with layers and detailing – I have never felt more amazing!
What do you remember most about the day itself?
We feel so lucky that we remember the day really well, it truly was a perfect day. We remember particularly, walking into the Great Hall, as a newly married couple, just us as the staff at Fanhams Hall organised the confetti line. It was just us, in the beautifully decorated Great Hall, with a glass of processo and we just could not stop smiling. Also, the dessert was incredible!
We will always remember our special day at Fanhams Hall. The staff truly could not do enough to make our special day perfect for us.
What tips or advice would you give to future couples?
Our advice would be to enjoy it. Lots of people told us it was stressful but we genuinely enjoyed it! Make sure you make decisions together. Have fun with things – we made our menu tasting a date night, I had drinks after bridal appointments with my bridesmaids etc. Don’t worry about what others will think or what they want, this is for you – be a bit selfish!
And the main thing, don’t worry about the little stuff, once you’ve married the love of your life, you don’t notice the intricacies of the table decorations you worried about! It really helped that we felt confident in Fanhams Hall to host our special day.
